I have been a registered nurse since 1983 and completed a minor in Psychology. I then continued in the traditional medical model receiving my degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from UCSF in1997. My advanced practice has been primarily in Family Practice/Integrative Health and Emergency Medicine.

Through my education and experience in western medicine I have a solid foundation to fully understand and safely integrate the best of traditional and integrative practices. I have a vast skill set and am able to uncover many aspects of the individual (Physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and ancestral), working with both children and adults. Named the environmental “messenger” by Vanity Fair, a top 10 eco-hero of the planet by the U.K.’s Independent, and designated one of the top eight women saving the planet by Marie Claire, Simran is the author of Bread, Wine, Chocolate: The Slow Loss of Foods We Love, about the story of changes in food and agriculture told through bread, wine, chocolate, coffee and beer. She is an associate at the University of Melbourne’s Sustainable Society Institute in Australia, a contributor for Orion Magazine and a recent visiting scholar at the Cocoa Research Centre in St. Augustine, Trinidad.

Lauded as an “environmental woman of impact” by Daily Variety, Simran was the host of the 2013-2014 PBS QUEST series on science and sustainability. She was the environmental correspondent for NBC News, which included contributions to CNBC, MSNBC, TODAY and Nightly News. Simran was also the anchor and writer of the Sundance Channel’s environmental programming The Green, and has been featured on the History Channel and National Public Radio, as well as on media in Australia, India and Italy. She was also the host of the EMMY award-winning PBS documentary A School in the Woods.

Simran is the contributing author of Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy, winner of the bronze 2008 Axiom Award for Best Business Ethics Book. Casey Beck

For the past decade, Casey has been directing and producing independent documentary films, highlighting otherwise untold stories. Since 2004, she has directed and produced numerous documentaries, including: Mongolia: Land Without Fences, which aired as a FRONTLINE/World “Rough Cut” in 2007 and the award-winning The Rising Tide: Kiribati, which detailed the effects of global warming on Kiribati, a small island developing nation in the Central Pacific.

In 2008, Casey received a Fulbright grant to produce a feature length documentary in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The result was Los Famosos, which follows a family of people who nightly pick through the city’s garbage in search of recyclable material to sell.

She premiered her feature documentary directorial debut The Organic Life in 2013 to sold-out crowds at the 36th Mill Valley Film Festival, where it was included in the prestigious Active Cinema circle. The film won Best Documentary Feature at the Santa Cruz Film Festival, screened at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival and others as national online distribution was rolled out in April, 2014 in partnership with FilmBuff.

Casey now works in Richmond, California for a progressive youth organization, RYSE, where she teaches video and mentors award-winning emerging media makers.

Ellen Miller is a USATF Certified Level 2 Endurance/Athletic Coach, and works as an Outdoor Fitness Coach in the Vail Valley. She is the Coach/Manager of the US Women’s Mountain Running Team. She is the only American woman to climb Mt. Everest from both Nepal and Tibet 2 (1 of 5 women in the world) and she works guiding treks and climbs in the Himalaya.

Beyond her world-wide extensive climbing resume, Ellen has also climbed other Himalayan 8000-meter peaks Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Manaslu in 2010.  In 2013, she became the second woman in history to climb Nuptse, and complete the “Everest Trilogy.’

In 2002, she was voted Colorado Sportswoman of the Year for longevity and achievement in athletics. Ellen takes pride in helping people at any ability level, reach their potential in fitness and wellness. As a bi-lateral hip replacement recipient, she supports and encourages other aging athletes to continue their pursuit of passion in sports.

Libby Oberlin

Cecilia (Ceil) O’Brien Folz is President of the Vail Valley Foundation, and CEO of the Youth Foundation and Vilar Performing Arts Foundation, both subsets of the Vail Valley Foundation. She also recently served as President of the 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships Organizing Committee.

A native of suburban Chicago, Ceil attended college at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse where she received her bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Sports Medicine. Following graduation, she moved to Vail, Colorado and volunteered to assist in the organization of the Opening and Awards Ceremonies for the 1989 World Alpine Ski Championships.

Ceil joined the staff of the Foundation following the 1989 Championships where she assumed the overall responsibilities for its athletic events, while also serving as director of the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater and AEI World Forum.

Ceil was later promoted to Senior Vice President, taking over the reins for the logistical and operational efforts of the 1999 World Alpine Ski Championships, and following the 1999 Championships, accepted the position of President of the Vail Valley Foundation.
